A two-person product studio in Kent
We make web and mobile apps for companies that care how a thing works as much as how it looks. There are two of us, and we do the work ourselves.
01 / Work
We started by building for ourselves. Both products below are live, and the two of us did every part of them.
Whatever everyone's talking about, explained before you have to ask. Bandwagon is a Telegram bot that got casual fans through seven weeks of the World Cup. It sent your team's form and the day's fixtures every morning, cost less than a coffee, and needed nothing installed.
Still is an app for couples in the long quiet chapter that arrives after the wedding, the mortgage and the children. It walks two people through the moment after an argument instead of letting them avoid it.
02 / Services
Dashboards, booking systems, client portals and internal tools. The software a business runs on.
One codebase for both stores. We handle the build and the store submissions, including the review process nobody warns you about.
Drafting, sorting, extracting and summarising. We point it at a bottleneck you can name.
Studios makes the identity. Labs turns it into a component library your developers can keep building with.
You have something half-finished from another developer. We audit it and tell you what is worth keeping before we finish it.
Hosting, updates, small changes and someone to call. Monthly, cancel any time.
Getting the thing used once it is built. Positioning, the launch sequence and the first channels, which is the part most developers hand back to you.
03 / Process
The same five stages every time, in the same order. You know what happens next and what it costs before it starts.
A paid week. We take the idea apart and hand back a written spec and a fixed price for the build. It is yours to keep whether or not you continue.
Clickable screens before any production code. This is the cheapest place to change your mind.
Two-week blocks. You see working software at the end of each one, so there are no months of silence.
Launch, app store submission, analytics, and a fortnight of watching it closely.
Repository, accounts and documentation, all in your name. You could hire someone else the next day if you wanted to.
04 / Engagements
Four shapes, and you always know which one you are in. Every build is fixed price and fixed scope, quoted after the scoping sprint rather than guessed at before it.
Most projects run between £25,000 and £75,000 depending on scope.
05 / Studio
Qualia Labs Limited is registered in England & Wales, company no. 17365986. Daniel also takes design work independently under his own name, Qualia Studios.

Design & brand
Twelve years at Jaguar Land Rover, where he was sole or primary designer on Special Vehicle Operations, the Velar launch and Defender 2,000,000. He will argue about the weight of a badge for longer than you want him to.
Software & product
Fifteen years a marketing director running six-figure budgets and teams of up to ten, then founded Atelier Ananda and learned to code building the things it needed. She designs the product and writes it. Her first question about any feature is who will use it, and when.
06 / Questions
You do. Repository, accounts and domains are in your name from day one, and everything transfers at handover. There is no lock-in and no licence to keep paying.
A fair question for a two-person studio. Everything lives in your accounts, the code is documented, and we keep the stack deliberately boring so any competent developer can pick it up.
Fixed, after the scoping sprint. We will not quote a build we have not scoped, because that is how projects end up at double the estimate.
Yes. If you already have a brand we will build to it. If you do not, Daniel does that side.
Under about £25,000 you are usually better served by an off-the-shelf tool, and we will tell you which one.
